    • How to Kick Ass in Cloud Computing Marketing
Few things inspire a blogger to write blog posts than appealing to their ego and sense of humour. Despite concerted appearances to the contrary, it appears I too am susceptible. Here we take a lesson in marketing brilliance from Novell…as they “take the drama out of Cloud Computing”…by bringing a slightly surreal blog post I wrote to […]

Cloud Computing – Cloud computing will continue to be adopted at a faster pace as data center managers begin running tier 2 and 3 applications from hosted cloud services so companies don’t incur the overhead of managing and maintaining those types of server infrastructure. Whether it is a virtual private cloud, or virtual public cloud being used to host servers companies will okay those cloud services as a low cost disaster recovery center or more cost effective storage for backups than traditional Tape archiving and hosting.

Innovative Techniques (advanced mathematics) – Although it is too early to speak of how nano-technology could be adopted to help improve computing power, resources and/or storage optimization over the next few years, other innovative techniques like mobile device data server management isn’t so far off. 2010 could be the year where mobile technology could be used to upgrade, maintain, backup, recover and manage servers all from your iPhone or BlackBerry, without ever stepping into the data center.

Data Reduction Techniques – Server, storage and infrastructure consolidation will continue to be a trend for 2010. Cost savings will still be a driving factor and if solid state flash technologies can develop into a viable enterprise storage solution, the days of spinning disk drives may be over. Data-Deduplication, incremental snapshots and storage optimization products that improve data management while simultaneously reducing storage requirements will also continue to be a trend for 2010.

Role of Social Media – Over the last few years social media has moved from sharing pictures with friends to a critical component in brand marketing strategies for companies. The funny thing is that one of the fastest growing demographics of social media isn’t your kids or the millennial generation it’s the 40-60 year old group that are reconnecting with families and friends. This makes social media a growing market for advertising and recommending products just as the radio did in the 30′s or the television did in the 50′s.
